Touched by An Angel

We, unaccustomed to courage
exiles from delight
live coiled in shells of loneliness
until love leaves its high holy temple
and comes into our sight
to liberate us into life.

Love arrives
and in its train come ecstasies
old memories of pleasure
ancient histories of pain.
Yet if we are bold,
love strikes away the chains of fear
from our souls.

We are weaned from our timidity
In the flush of love's light
we dare be brave
And suddenly we see
that love costs all we are
and will ever be.
Yet it is only love
which sets us free.

If we are bold to love another deeply, Love does strike away those chains of fears…
    And set us free…
But to take that leap it takes a great amount of courage. At least it was in my case.
    Wonderful poem.
Thank you for introducing me to it.

    • I agree it is a leap of faith to open yourself to love. Taking the risk opens us to greater depths if we can bear to push beyond the fear of pain. xox
I am very happy that you risked and gained x

        Thank you… I am as well. 🙂
Sometimes it helps when I don’t see things coming.
