A loved one is leaving…

afternoon_stretch_by_kijani_lion

A beloved leaves this world and I must repost this poem in honour of his journey (give the ear parcel a chance, open it in another tab watch the first few moments then read the poem, I am unapolgetically scandinavian even if my beloved friend is a lion; David my Lion this poem is for you)…

Leave the familiar for a while.

Let your senses and bodies stretch out
Like a welcomed season

Onto the meadow and shores and hills.
Open up to the Roof.

Make a new watermark on your excitement

And love.
Like a blooming night flower,

Bestow your vital fragrance of happiness

And giving

Upon our intimate assembly.
Change rooms in your mind for a day.
All the hemispheres in existence

Lie beside an equator

In your heart.
Greet Yourself

In your thousand other forms

As you mount the hidden tide and travel

Back home.
All the hemispheres in heaven

Are sitting around a fire

Chatting
While stitching themselves together

Into the Great Circle inside of

You.

Wild Rose

Rose

My grandmother was named Rose, she lived in the wild and tamed three sons.

“There was something about him that she wanted to learn, grow into, and hide in, where she could turn away from being an adult. There was some little waltz in the way he spoke to her and the way he thought.”

The English Patient, Michael Ondaatje.

Rose 1934

I promised to tell you how one falls in love.

The wild poem is a substitute

For the women one loves

Or ought to love,

One wild rhapsody

A fake for another

“I believe this. When we meet those we fall in love with, there is an aspect of our spirit that is historian, a bit of a pedant who reminisces or remembers a meeting when the other has passed by innocently… but all parts of the body must be ready for the other, all atoms must jump in one direction for desire to occur.”
Michael Ondaatje, Author of The English Patient

Treasure – love song cuatro

Trust_by_artiswolf
Take a moment to sit with me
Open the hope chest of your heart
Pour over the beauty you cherish
Nourish yourself with soft memories
Peek at the secrets held within
Have you ever shared your secret self?
Has anyone earned your trust?
Vulnerable as it is, a roiling ocean of fear
There is a soft sense of safety that comes of trust
Walking barefoot on warm spring grass
Butterfly glimpsed dancing in sunlight
The embrace of one dearly loved
Open your heart to trust little one
The reward is to risk being treasured

Reverberate – love song triptych

Tears of Sorrow JollyPen

Let the shuddering tears take you

The tremors will subside

The tide will change

Healing will fill you with calm

Embrace the painful moments

Grace, will come

You will wake and know shame

You will realise that guilt is of no use

Self-induced punishment a waste

Of your potential

Embrace the honesty of real pain

Let suffering guide you

To greater integrity

Sweetheart, let the tears come

Truth will follow

This is a little series of love songs I have started. They are written for my beloved self…

Postmodern expression – love song (Tyler Kent White)

“I can’t say I know
the burdens you bear
the struggles you face
or the fights you have fought
in learning to love yourself

I do not have the answers
the solutions
or remedies
you may be searching for

but I do have something
and though it’s just one thing
I will give you all that I can

and through my kindness
I hope you will start to see
that you alone have always been
and you alone will always be
just that,
enough.
for everyone.
for everything.”
